1/2H have been learning all about Albert Namatjira and his paintings. He loved the Australian landscape. He especially loved painting gum trees. He found that in certain light, gum trees can be all sorts of colours from brown to white to purple- and often all of those colours at the same time.

So last week we went out to the playground and sat under the St. Michael’s gum trees to have a look for ourselves. We found the bark was very rough and textured and the shadows cast in the afternoon light was spectacular! Our sketches were brilliant!

We then used watercolour to bring them to life! I think you will agree that the results are amazing! Everyone did an amazing job!! (photos and Albert power point coming soon…..)
